Street Trees of New York City
Every ten years, the NYC parks department takes a census of every single street tree throughout the five boroughs. Over the course of two years, a team of volunteers coupled with park employees and arborists walk up and down every block in their neighborhoods to identify, document, and evaluate all trees that line the streets across the five boroughs. Over the course of two years
Using the data from the 2005 TreesCount Census, this infographic aims to visualize the overall health, economic impact, and species population of all street trees throughout the five boroughs. Starting at the bottom with the overall data across NYC, each species 'branches out' into the individual boroughs allowing for easy comparison of tree populations between each borough.
